Louis Huerta - Senior Systems Engineering Architect

Louis’ career spans seventeen years in the government and commercial aerospace industries.  He led several software development projects for operational tools utilized in day to day operations by the ISS Crew and the NASA Flight Control Team (FCT) as a contractor at the NASA Johnson Space Center (JSC) in the Flight Operations Directorate (FOD). Moving to exploration he led teams developing initial concepts and testing lab for crew computing interfaces for the Gateway and Artemis programs.  Recently serving as Deputy Lead Systems Engineer at Voyager Space/Nanoracks for the Starlab Commercial Space Station Program he led the international team successfully from Mission Concept Review (MCR) through Systems Requirements Review (SRR), and to System Definition Review (SDR) to complete Phase A of the program with NASA approval. In his career he has enjoyed working with several multidisciplinary teams across the US, Europe, and Japan.

Louis holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology (MST), formerly known as University of Missouri – Rolla, and a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from University of Houston – Clear Lake. Ensuring continued learning and expanding knowledge in Systems engineering he will start pursuing a Doctorate in Systems Engineering specializing in Digital Engineering/Model Based Systems Engineering and Systems of Systems Architecture starting Fall 2024 from his alma mater MST.

Supporting the profession of Systems Engineering in the Houston area, Louis has served as a volunteer in leadership roles for the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Texas Gulf Coast Chapter (TGCC) as President, Vice-President, and Communications Director. In addition, he participates in several INCOSE working groups such as the Requirements, Digital Information Exchange, System of Systems, and the Space Systems Working Groups.

Louis is excited to bring Systems Engineering methods and tools to multiple industries enabling organizations to be highly successful in developing any system of interest envisioned.
